VLSI Research Group: People

VLSI Research Group People

Latest news (April 2009)

Dr. Ivan Sutherland, Sun Fellow and VP emeritus, is now a Visiting Scientist at Portland State University. Ivan founded the VLSI Research Group when his company, Sutherland, Sproull, and Associates, was acquired by Sun. Ivan, widely considered to be the father of computer graphics, held faculty positions at Harvard University, the University of Utah, and the California Institute of Technology. He won the 1988 Turing Award for his ground-breaking work in the field of asynchronous circuits. Ivan still promises to drop by from time to time.
