August 31, 2007 - Congratulations to the MPK20 Team! We know how cool it is, now Computerworld's world will know!

MPK20 received an "honorable mention" in Computerworld's Horizon Awards "10 Cool Cutting Edge Technologies":

What it does: MPK20 is a virtual 3-D environment in which remote employees can accomplish work, share documents and meet with colleagues using natural voice communication. Based on a Java-based game engine for creating a virtual world, MPK is an abbreviation for Menlo Park (Sun's physical campus). The MPK20 software is built on top of Sun Labs' Project Darkstar infrastructure -- a server platform designed for multiplayer games.

The Computerworld Horizon Awards were established in 2005 to provide visibility for cutting-edge technologies from research labs and emerging companies. Computerworld received over 200 nominations for this year's category - innovative technologies that meet the needs of enterprise IT.

Each nomination was required to have a technology that met one of this year's criteria.
