Lev A. Markov is a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Labs where he is responsible for the development of new generation scalable trade-off optimization algorithms for scheduling and resource management in networked computing. His work is aimed on improvement of resource utilization and power consumption within large scale heterogeneous data centers. Algorithms developed by Dr. Markov are deployed by various product teams within Sun.

Prior to Sun, Markov was a chief scientist of Mentor Graphics Corporation where he was leading state-of-the-art technical thrust into system design, architectural exploration and behavioral synthesis. He was also responsible for a multi-project worldwide research program linking Mentor Graphics, industry and academia.

Before his employment with Mentor Graphics, Dr. Markov co-founded Silc Technologies Inc. where he was responsible for optimization algorithms in logic synthesis. He also worked as a principal member of technical staff in GTE Laboratories and as a senior member of technical staff in the research center of Wang Laboratories.

Lev A. Markov has a broad expertise in algorithmic solutions for complex optimization problems. He developed numerous design optimization tools and pioneered several new directions in EDA. He holds a PhD and MS in Applied Mathematics from the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute.

Dr. Markov is a member of a technical committee for ISSS, as well as NSF and NSRC task forces. He was invited member of numerous industry panels, including DAC, ICCAD, EDAC, DATE, ISSS.
