Dr. Herb Schwetman is a Senior Staff Engineer at Sun Microsystems Laboratories, where he works in the Computer Architecture and Performance group. Schwetman specializes in developing models of software systems and integrated models of hardware and software systems.
Schwetman joined Sun in 2001 as a member of the performance engineering group for the Sun ONE Directory Server. He made the move to join Sun Labs in March, 2004.
Prior to Sun, Schwetman was president and CEO of Mesquite Software, a small software company located in Austin, TX (1994 to 2001).
Before Mesquite, Schwetman worked as a senior member of the technical staff at MCC from 1984 to 1994, and was Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University from 1972 to 1984.
Schwetman received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Texas in Austin in 1970. His other research interests include systems modeling, discrete event simulation, operating systems and systems performance analysis and prediction.
