Bernard Horan is a Senior Staff Engineer for Sun Microsystems Laboratories, where he is the Principal Investigator for the Meeting Echoes project, collaborating closely with members of the Collaborative Environments project.

Bernard was the instigator and technical lead of the successful collaborative project that used Project Wonderland to create a Mixed Reality Teaching & Learning Environment (MiRTLE).

Bernard's earlier research has included work on the semantic web as part of the Advanced Search Technology

project (he was a member of the W3C WebOnt WG) and the

Sun SPOT project.

Prior to joining Sun, Bernard worked in banking, leading the development of enterprise client information systems.
