Ron Ho is a Distinguished Engineer in the VLSI Research group.
His primary research area is efficient data communication, both within a chip (such as a microprocessor) as well as between chips.
Ron's other research interests include memory design, computer architecture, and CAD. Ron's background covers a ten-year stint at Intel Corporation, where he worked on the 80486, the Pentium II, and multiple generations of the Itanium processors. He was the 1992-1993 IEEE Fortescue Fellow, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, and is a senior member of the IEEE.
Ron is a former member of the technical program committee for the IEEE Int'l Solid-State Circuits Conference, and is currently on program committees for the IEEE Asian Solid-State Circuits Conference, the IEEE Hot Interconnects Conference, the IEEE Symposium on Asynchronous Circuits and Systems, and the IEEE VLSI-DAT Conference. He was the General Chair of the 2008 IEEE/LEOS Workshop on Interconnections Within High-Speed Digital Systems, and has served as guest associate editor for the Journal of Quantum Electronics and the Journal of Solid-State Circuits. He is a consulting Assistant Professor at Stanford University, where he teaches graduate-level courses in circuit design.
In his spare time he creates sawdust under the guise of woodworking and plays classical chamber music. Although retired from competitive Ultimate Frisbee, he keeps active by training and racing (very slowly) in triathlons.
