Mike Wessler is currently a Member of the Technical Staff at Sun Microsystems Laboratories. He joined Sun Labs in February 2002, slightly more than 10 years after his first summer as an intern there. He now works in the Meeting Central group, developing tools to enable people to collaborate in creative ways from down the hall or around the world.
Mike received his Ph.D. in 2002 from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his research focused on the development of visual user interface tools that aid in the comprehension of complex systems.
In 1997, Mike took a one-year sabbatical from MIT to join Vice President Al Gore's staff as his personal computer advisor. Along with helping the Vice President invent the Internet, Mike worked with the Office of the Vice President to explore new technologies and their application to improve the workflow of government offices.
