We connect with several students and academics in Australian universities to support Sun's message of open source software and state of the art hardware. These students and academics are our ambassadors.

Students Ambassadors

Student ambassadors promote open-source technologies from Sun, and lead Open Source University Meetup (OSUM) clubs on-campus and in the community. Student ambassadors are technically proficient self-starters who are passionate about free and open-source software and open communities.

Academic Friends

Our academic friends promote technologies from Sun in their teaching and/or research programs. The adoption of the Niagara OpenSPARC multicore architectures is proving popular, with concurrent computing teaching materials being shared by many universities worldwide.

"I am doing Advance Master in IT(QUT). I loved Java and Sun Microsystem since I was back at my home country (Pakistan). My past experience in IT starts with working in Bank Alfalah LTD in Jaranwala. Now I am campus ambassador of Sun Microsystem at QUT. I always dream about working for sun and this is a great opportunity to learn more about huge Platform of Sun. Our QUT OSUM is fastest growing club in QUT. Please visit our OSUM and join by clicking here. This semester we are having many events by Sun at QUT, which will help students to look forward for upcoming technologies in open source."

"I am currently a postgraduate student at The University of Melbourne, studying for a PhD in Computer Science.
As Campus Ambassador I have started University of Melbourne, Open Source University Meetup (OSUM) for our university. As part of OSUM I organize regular training on Basic JAVA and SUNSPOT. Apart from that we have regular tea session which attracts lots of students and help our OSUM to grow steadily.
I also have initiated a student project, Service Oriented VoIP (SOVoIP), we are developing this novel Voice over IP (VoIP) architecture as open source project.
OSUM gave me an opportunity to initiate a program that is named as CREATE. With CREATE my aim is to bridge the digital divide in the world by creating a world of equal opportunities, new jobs, better communication and necessary awareness for everyone with the help of ICT.
It has been a great experience and honor to represent SUN in the campus. I get to meet lots of great people, gathering real life industry experience and always feel like part of a big family.."
