Project Darkstar - the Future of Game Technologies

CNET News Interview with Chris Melissinos, Sun's Chief Gaming Officer

October 11, 2006 - Yesterday Sun launched its Second Life presence with a press conference in the virtual Sun Pavilion. John Gage hosted the event - actually, his avatar hosted the event - and he was accompanied on stage by Chris Melissinos, Sun's Chief Gaming Officer, for a discussion of Project Darkstar.

After the Sun event, Chris "teleported across the metaverse" for a long interview with CNET's Daniel Terdiman, and audience members, in CNET's new space in Second Life to talk about Sun's strategy for helping online game developers.

On Tuesday, Sun Microsystems used the opening of its own "Second Life" space to announce its "Project Darkstar," which is designed to help developers of online games with server-side technology.
