Sun Labs, CTO and Friends at JavaOne 2007

May 7, 2007 - Sun Microsystems Laboratories and Sun's CTO organization are well represented at JavaOne 2007, with 43 + researchers and engineers as well as external developers and collaborators, presenting ten technical sessions, four BOFs, two Hands On Labs and staffing three Pods on the Pavilion floor.

SONIA, a Java technology-based autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) will be on display in a special plexiglass tank in the Java Playground, staffed by five members of the SONIA team: Felix Pageau, Francois St Amant, Martin Morissette (Sun Labs intern, 2006), David Mercier, and Jean Francois Im (current Sun Labs interns).

Built by engineering students from Ecole de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) SONIA is one of the Duke's Choice 2007 award winners and will be one of the Java technologies—one of the toys—on stage in James Gosling's General Session Friday morning.

PAVILION FLOOR, TUESDAY—THURSDAY:

On the Pavilion Floor, Labs and CTO technologies will be showcased in various places and in four Pods.
