History of Sun SPOT Development at Sun Labs
by Bernard Horan, Bill Bush, John Nolan and David Cleal

Read Technical Report

October 22, 2007 - As computers, sensors, and wireless communication have become smaller, cheaper, and more sophisticated, wireless transducer platforms have become a focus of research and commercial interest. This report describes an investigation into such platforms. It presents a new taxonomy of transducer systems, describes the construction of prototypes of a new transducer device designed for ease of application development, and discusses commercialization issues.

Project Sun SPOT today:

Project SunSPOT (Sun Small Programmable Object Technology) is an on- going and very active project at Sun Labs. Sun SPOTs can be purchased at: http://www.sunspotworld.com, and the Project is actively seeking educators, researchers and collaborators to participate in developing curricula and research proposals, as well as partnering with engineers who want to take on the challenge of sending our Sun SPOTs where none have gone before. If you'd like to join us, visit http://www.sunspotworld.com/proposals and submit your proposal.
